Back To the Darkness (working title)

I'm currently a little way into the second draft of my first novel, tentatively titled Back To the Darkness. It's a fantasy/horror story about a man discovering his down-to-earth father's strange, dark history, and in the process learning to understand his own.

I'm fairly certain that I'll self-publish initially, through Lulu.com. They can do print-to-order for a very workable rate, and it'll give me a chance to test the book out on the market without laying out a lot of money, while I try shopping it around agents. Word is very few publishers are taking new writers right now, the economy being what it is, and I'm told by an informed source that having already self-published won't hurt my chances at getting a contract, so it can't hurt to give it a try.

When I'm a bit further along I'll maybe put an exerpt up here, to give people a taster of the book - if I do self-publish, you'll be able to buy it from this page!

24th of April: The book's back on hold while I work on the stuff that's going to pay my bills. Real life wins again, at least for a little while.
