29th of September 2007: Confusion Reigns
First thing in the morning, with things looking a little clearer but no brighter, I phone my dad and ask him to advance me some more of the money freed up by the house sale. I'm now deeply worried about how my calculations have been so far off. Going back over my budget I can't see what's missing and I can't get direct access to my statement because I don't have my internet banking passcode.
The weather has turned, and rain hammers down much of the day with incredible force, drumming off every surface and leaving pools of water seeping into the house from all sides. I spend the entire day in front of the television, checking the ATM at intervals but the money refuses to come through. I get more and more worried. Everyone else in the house seems a little brought down by the weather and the TV room is full all day with quiet blurry figures vegetating in the glow from the flatscreen.
Finally in the early evening I decide I have to get out or go crazy - I have a splitting headache and I'm completely depressed from my scrapped day. I walk up to the Save-A-Centre and spend my last remaining cash reserve on a microwave sandwich and some hash browns. The food and the fresh air lift my mood considerably, and after dinner I join everyone at the poolside for a great sociable evening, very relaxed and mellow, just chatting and listening to music and dabbling our feet in the pool.
